Living Room - China Beach Retreat, a charming Bed & Breakfast on the beautiful Long Beach Peninsula     China Beach Retreat has three guest rooms. Each room offers an extraordinary vista of Baker's Bay and the mouth of the mighty Columbia River. The headlands of Cape Disappointment define the westward horizon. So much rich history amplifies itself so clearly here. In the front yard, a heron perches. A covey of widgeon sweep into view. A marsh hawk seems to dangle in the damp, salty air. The Oregon Coastal Range glitters for a hundred miles in winter sunrise. Deer frequently visit, asserting their right-of-way in this natural setting.
Coffee and tea service is available all day. A sumptuous gourmet breakfast is served daily at The Shelburne Inn, just five miles away, and is complimentary to guests of China Beach Retreat.

"But the main reason to visit the China Beach is its seclusion and nearness to the sea. We found that three days there soothed and refreshed us as though it had been a much longer vacation. You can't ask more of a geaway than that."

In the upstairs rooms, named Sacagawea (#18) and Lewis & Clark (#19), each bed has been raised on a wooden dais to afford a bird's-eye view of Baker's Bay. Witness that dramatic surge of waters that empties here at the edge of the western United States. Each of the bathrooms features an air-jet, hydrotherapy massage tub, and is decorated with hand-crafted tiles made by the renowned local artist, Renee O'Connor. Victorian stained glass windows have been added to cast a romantic light.

The downstairs suite is the perfect place to unwind. Asian accents add to the serenity of the view. A two-person, air-jet, hydrotherapy massage tub completes the job of removing the stresses of modern living. A marble relief panel of the Chinese Goddess Kuan Yin floating in the clouds oversees the effort.
